Ingredients
French's fried onions | 1 container |
small shallots, sliced | 2 |
Pro Seasoning Tellicherry Black pepper | 2 teaspoons |
Unsalted butter | ¼ cup |
All Purpose Flour | ¼ cup |
Whole Milk | 16 oz |
sliced button or cremini mushrooms | 16 oz |
microwave ready snipped green beans | two 12 oz bags |
Pro Seasoning All Purpose | TT (to taste) |
Method of Prep:
Heat a medium sized skillet over medium and add mushrooms to the pan dry (yes dry). Cook the mushrooms while stirring occasionally until they are golden brown. Next, add the butter, shallots, and black pepper and cook over medium heat until the shallots have a little color. Sprinkle the flour over the top of the veg and stir into a paste, this is a roux. Cook the paste for 1 minute and add milk. Use a rubber spatula to scrape the bottom of the pan to make sure it's all incorporated. Use a whisk to stir the sauce over medium to high heat. Cook until the sauce until it is thick enough to coat the back of a wooden spoon. Season the sauce to taste with Pro Seasoning All Purpose.
Steam green beans in the microwave for the amount of time as directed on the package. Mix the green beans with the sauce and pour into a casserole dish. Bake casserole at 350 degrees F for 30 -45 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F. Sprinkle onions onto the top of the casserole the last 5 minutes of baking. Serve hot!
This was the favorite dish, surpassing even prime rib roast, at a recent dinner party. They had seconds and asked for the recipe. Thanks, Chef, for sharing.
